Jason Thompson
Jason Thompson (b. 1970) was born in, currently lives, and works in Liverpool, UK. Positioned between the sacred and the profane, Thompson’s paintings have been described as hovering between the religious icon and the shed door. Using found wood and a patchwork process of assemblage, Thompson creates worn surfaces that feel as if they have been touched by a thousand hands. Thompson received his BFA (1993) and MFA (1995) in Painting from Chelsea College of Art & Design. He has exhibited with Wilson Stephen and Jones, London; Flowers Gallery, London; PSMirabel, Manchester; OTP Copenhagen; and BDDW, New York, among others. His work resides in the collections of the Arts Council England, London; Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool; and the Office of Public Works, Dublin.
